We are nearing the end of the school year, which is hard to believe.  As a community we have had a successful year with all of the parent participation, and thank you for that---but we’re not done yet for the 09-10 school year!!!

First, some updates:
·         AUCTION:   if you haven’t heard, the incredible team effort of Irene Mason and Lisa Finn scored over $30,000.00!!!  In a down economy, this is nothing short of a miracle.  Major thanks and appreciation to Irene, Lisa and all the fantastic parents who scoured the streets for donations and worked endless hours computerizing, packaging, tallying, organizing, transporting, counting, setting up, cleaning up, cataloging,  etc etc….and always with devotion and intensity to make sure Hudson’s scholarship fund remained healthy.  THANK YOU ALL for your generosity and priceless time in order to make this event a success.  We know it wasn’t easy, and enough cannot be said about your commitment.
·         TEACHER TRIBUTES:  Parents, you gave and we are buying EVERYTHING the teachers requested. From theatre sound FX machines to scientific calculators to bananagrams to DVDs to language immersion kits to books, books and more books that will keep our kids stimulated and interested.   Kathy Prussack is in the midst of fulfilling each tribute, so, by the Fall Semester everything will be bought and integrated into the Teachers’ classes.   Again, in a down economy you helped.  Your good wishes and notes were also cherished as Mrs. Newman enjoyed reading every one of them aloud for the teachers to enjoy.
·         HUDSON GARDENS:  We are now ready for spring cleaning so to speak.  Beverly Williams, with the help and donations of Pete Brandli, is ready to tackle the west garden to create a teachers’ patio.  This past year both Beverly and Gail Brandli have weeded and planted a variety of things to improve our modest landscape.  Beverly NEEDS help moving things so if you want to garden contact me…VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED.  Let me know what kind of availability you have.  It will be lovely but it will take more work….please join in!

And now,the Grand Finale: Now don’t get discouraged—this will be crazy fun!!
SAVE THE DATE!   SATURDAY EVENING--- JUNE 5th   ---  one last blast for the 09-10 school year

·         Remember how we explained that NJ State has permanently eliminated funding for our Tech Budget?  This critical piece of the annual school budget is worth $5000.00, which is now gone.  We have to figure out a way to raise it—yes, over and above what your generosity has provided.
·         Due to the overwhelming generosity of both the Pullen-Lewis family and the Armus-Piersanti family (who happen to live across the hall from one another), they both have donated the use of their GIGANTIC lofts in Hamilton Park (Jersey City)  to stage a fantastic event which will celebrate MUSIC (via an outside professional trio) and the ART of various acclaimed Hudson county artists. Music and Art will be presented in both lofts to create a real party flow and total social scene---  this will be quite an event.

·         We are encouraging alumni, staff, family and friends of Hudson to party together and celebrate the success of this wonderful school.  All proceeds go to the Tech Fund.  A special invitation will be coming your way via email so make sure you read it…..YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS.

So stay tuned for…..

The First Annual MUSIC AND ART CELEBRATION
to benefit The Hudson School Tech Fund

and

Through the ingenuity of parent, Catherine Burns Konefal, The Hudson School will be launching “SPIRIT WEAR” which the kids (and parents) will love….all proceeds also go to the TECH FUND.  Look for info distributed in the FF or CLICK HERE for more information.  Order forms can be downloaded HERE.

So parents!  We are doing our best to make it fun, build our community and make our budget!
Do join in, and, both Mrs. Newman and the Parents' Association thank you for all you have done already.

Thanks!
